I'm a former TV reporter, so there are few things in life that leave me speechless. After all, reporters are typically exposed to a variety of raw emotions on any given day--depending upon whether they're covering something like a deadly house fire or a "coming home" celebration for troops who have been overseas. This past Tuesday, however, I was left without words as I watched people from the Spartanburg community rally together to donate their hair--THEIR HAIR!!!!!!--for our Locks of Love event. When it was all said and done, 25 people stepped up to the plate and gave a little of themselves so that they could help someone else. For that, I (and the rest of the Kenneth Shuler staff) am incredibly grateful.
Locks of Love is a wonderful organization that Kenneth Shuler Schools support on a year-round basis. This organization takes hair donations from individuals and turns them into hairpieces for children who are suffering from medical-related hair loss. What a great cause!!! Without a doubt, many children will be helped as a result of the generosity of the Spartanburg community!
I'd also like to thank WSPA-TV, specifically Mr. Jack Roper, for all of their help and promotion throughout the day! It was wonderful working with you all and we look forward to making this an annual event.
